First a Phone, Now a Tablet

Looks like Sony is widening their gadgets for gaming, a few months ago, they announced their new portable console, then a phone. And now, they are venturing to Tablets.

The Sony S1 Tablet, which is powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, will be able to play PlayStation One games as well as Sony approved games for mobile phones, the S1 will have a 9 inch screen.

But Sony is offering 2 tablets, aside from the S1, they will also release the S2, it has the same processor as with the S1, but this time it can be folded similar to the Nintendo DS. The S2's dual screen is again similar to the DS, the bottom screen has a touch screen for the controls and the top screen is for display. Both screens are 5.5 inches and can display a resolution of 1024x480.

Both the S1 and S2 is scheduled to be released this coming 4th Quarter, there are no details on the pricing of the two tablets. Other features the S1 and S2 will have are 3G and 4G capability as well as an Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), they can become a remote control for your other Sony devices such as the Bravia TV. The S1 is meant for home use while the S2 is targeted for portable use.
