Lunar Silver Star Harmony Game Review

The Lunar series has another remake on the classic RPG, now titled Lunar Silver Star Harmony,
the game is ported to the PSP with newly improved graphics, gameplay and more secret stuffs.

The very first Lunar was created in the Sega CD on 1993, then a PlayStation remake of the game was ported on 1999, will the 2nd remake of Lunar bring the players back into the old school style of RPG?

*The Demo version of Lunar Silver Star Harmony was used for the review

The Story focuses on the role of Alex, a young boy from a small town who dreams of becoming an adventurer like his idol, Dyne. He is joined by a menagerie of playable and supporting characters who aid him on his quest, including Luna, his childhood friend and sweetheart; Nall, a winged, white, cat-like creature with an uncertain past; and Ramus, son of the town mayor with dreams of becoming a rich businessman.

The graphics of the game has dramatically changed, the character sprites and animation are now more fluid, the background design has also improved too. Although the anime cut-scene is still from the first remake from the PlayStation.

Voice acting is also good, but the original cast from the PlayStation remake was changed bringing new voices to the main characters, the music is still faithful to the original with some improvements.

The gameplay is still the same with some slight changes, one of them is the introduction of a limit break style of attack where a meter constantly increases every turn where you can unleash a powerful attack to your enemies. Another addition is the cut-scene on the character skill, giving them a dramatic presentation to any battle. One annoying problem here is whenever you move to a new location, the background music fades down and then goes back when you are in a new location, this can be annoying when moving to different areas, hope they change this in the retail version.

Sega CD version

PlayStation version

PlayStation Portable version

After finishing the demo version, you'll be able to save your clear data and you can import it to the retail (full) version of the game. What's inside the clear data is still unknown.

Overall the game is still worth to play despite having the simple turn-based gameplay. If you are a fan of turn based RPGs or you already played the original and the remake, this game is still worth your time.

Game Rating: 7 out of 10

Lunar Silver Star Harmony was developed by Game Arts and published by Xseed Games

Tetris that makes you dizzy

Tired of the same old Tetris game? Well this for a new twist in gameplay, but be warned though as this can make you really dizzy.

Introducing the First-Person Tetris, the Tetris game with the first-person view style of gameplay, it will make you feel like you are the brick falling down the screen, and if that wasn't enough, try playing it on night mode for a more challenging and yet dizzy experience.

A Gallery of Consoles

Do you know your Console gaming history? so have you ever heard of old gaming consoles like Tele-Spiel Las Vegas, Blackpoint and Spectrum 6? did you know that the very first video game console was the Magnavox Odyssey that was released on 1972? (I remember my dad had one when I was a little kid but didn't able to play it) and Microvision was the very first handheld console.

Talk about geek trivia huh? but if are interested in checking the different gaming consoles, and I mean all of the known gaming consoles, there is one site that will give you all the things you want to know

Consollection, a german site (it also has english language) which was created by Patrick Molnar features nearly 150 gaming consoles in a simple gallery, which features over 20 years of gaming goodness up to the current gen consoles, and not to mention the gallery is really impressive

When you click on a console image, it will open a console profile page where it gives you a short description about the selected console complete with release date, manufacturer and screenshot of the console as well as its box package.

To get an idea on what the galley looks like, I've posted a screenshot of it below and be mesmerize on the massive number of consoles, good luck on collecting each of these consoles if you want to be that die-hard. (click on the image to enlarge it)

Now that's a gallery!

So don't forget to check out this cool site

New Movies as Reto Games

So what if...
Our movies today are as they were today but they time traveled where video gaming are still played on wooden boxes and they are all pixelated and very retro

Yep, you heard that right, imagine some of your new movies and TV series had their own game version but for the retro console like the Atari 2600 (they changed it to CVS 2600 to avoid any copyright infringement), the folks at Penny Design made some cool box arts of retro goodness and they look so real, you can see smudges and stains on the box art .

Punch-Out!! Toys

You probably love the classic Punch-Out!! game on the NES, you know a game where you play as Little Mac as he journey to become the best boxer and challenge the best boxers alongside with his trainer Jerom "Doc" Luise.

The game was popular it has several sequels, remakes and spin-offs
If you can't remember the game, here are some screenshots to refresh you mind:

And one guy decided to create an action figure series to pay homage to this great classic game.
Fugazi ceated the whole cast of Punch-Out!! from various WWE and Marvel figures.

Here's the picture of the whole cast all immortalized into action figures:

Recreating the Joran vs. Jordan Commercial

Anyone remembered Michael Jordan? well every basketball lover should know him, if you don't know him and you love basketball then you're a noob and you should go back to grade school and study your history in basketball lessons (lol as if they teach that in school)

But anyway, if you know Jordan then you probably remembered one of his cool Gatorade commercials (which debuted on January, 2003) during his season with the Washington Wizards, yeah the one with him pitting against his younger self, which is ironic because the title of the commercial was 23 vs. 39, 23 was the age of the younger Jordan (during the rookie years with the Chicago Bulls) and 39 was his age at that time.

Why am I talking about this? well some guy by the name of MassenjahMatt re-create the famous video by using Machinima on NBA2k10. Although there were some minor changes on the Machinima (like the addition of a BGM, outfit and court changes), the recreation was almost the same as the original.

Okay here are the videos and see for yourself, enjoy!!

The Great Intro Mashup

Welcome back!, now 2009's gone and we are welcoming 2010 with a bang, it's time for some cool stuff from the bottomless pit of uber coolness info: the internet

Everyone loves watching cool intros from popular TV series and also animes, since hearing their immortal theme songs makes us feel nostalgic especially if the series is now a classic, but what if two popular series got mashed up, meaning you are watching series A's footage but with series B's intro music. Kind of confusing huh? but the result was spectacular and also funny

So here are some TV series (and movies) that got mashed up with some popular theme songs:

Star Trek (original) / A-Team mashup

Star Trek (new movie) / A-Team mash up

Star Wars / A-Team mashup

*Okay, for those who weren't born the time A-Team became popular (same goes for me), here's a video of their intro:

Star Wars / Macgyver mashup

Battlestar Galactica (classic) / Macgyver mashup

*Again, for those who haven't seen the Macgyver series as well as it's intro (well this time, I've watched the series when I was a little kid lol), here's the intro:
