Your Favorite Arcade Fighting Games on The PSP

Yes that's right, two of your favorite fighting games in the arcade is coming to the PlayStation Portable

First stop is the weapon-based fighting game Soulcalibur

Soulcalibur is making its first strike in the world of handheld gaming. Namco Bandai Games America announced today that Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny will be released exclusively on the PlayStation Portable this summer.

Using many of the fundamental mechanics of last year's Soulcalibur IV, Broken Destiny will feature a roster of more than 20 fighters. Although gamers won't be able to play as Star Warsstand-ins Darth Vader, Yoda, or the Apprentice, the game will attempt to offset those losses with the addition of at least one new character, Dampierre.

Other additions include an expanded version of the character-customization feature that let Soulcalibur IV players make a menagerie of unique-looking fighters to go along with the standard cast. Namco Bandai is also bolstering the series' staple Arcade, Versus, and Survival options with a new single-player mode to ease beginners into the higher levels of play. Part gameplay, part tutorial, the new mode will feature more than 80 missions designed to teach players the ropes and hone their skills.

Next stop is everyone's favorite Tekken 6, now we know all of you Tekken fans are waiting for a new sequel for the PSP, so rejoice and read on

We already knew that Tekken 6 would be storming the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this fall, but today we've learned that the storied fighting franchise is also headed for the PSP.

Namco Bandai didn't release many specifics, but we do know that the portable version of the game is set to release alongside the other console iterations and will pack additional stages, content, items, and an ad-hoc multiplayer mode using "original" and "fan favorite characters." The PSP version will also have "Ghost" Infrastructure mode so that a player can upload his or her character data as well as download others' to see how everyone's skills stack up.

"A must-have for Tekken aficionados, Tekken 6 sees the return of many familiar faces as well as new characters to create the largest line-up the series has ever seen," a Namco Bandai release reads. "With a growing roster of fighters, each equipped with their own deadly techniques, martial art moves, and attack combinations, Tekken 6 will be the best 'King of Iron Fist Tournament' yet. Adding to the already rich gaming experience, a deeper character customization feature will only enhance the incredible fighting intensity as players go mano-y-mano."

Resident Evil with Muppets

Who would ever thought that mixing Resident Evil with Muppets would be this crazy.
The doods at IGN and Black20 Studios created Jim Henson's Resident Evil 5 and it was really impressive and funny, from the zombie's make-up to the simple special effects of blood wounds.
And of course, these aren't actual Muppets, but that doesn't really matter. If there's one thing Muppets have taught us over the years, it's how to pretend.

Sunday X Magazine Game Review

Anime and manga lovers rejoice, Sunay X Magazine for the PSP is here and I have a review special for the game.

Sunday x Magazine: Shuuketsu! Choujou Daikessen! is a fighting game developed and published by Konami for the PSP to celebrate the 50th anniversary of shounen magazines Shōnen Sunday and Weekly Shōnen Magazine. 30 characters from both magazines will be playable with over 100 characters appearing as supports.

The concept is still a basic fighting game; you're given a number of rounds to deplete your opponent's lifebar to zero before he/she does it to you.

You'll be able to play and compete with 30 characters from GetBackers, Inoyasha, Air Gear, Flame of Recca, Hajime no Ippo and many more

As for the gameplay, Sunday X Magazine only has two modes: the arcade and quest mode
In Arcade, you duke it out with some of the characters of Shōnen Sunday and Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Defeating them enables you to unlock soem of the characters
While in Quest mode, you'll be pitted into a sidescrolling adventure with some paper-like monsters. Completing some of the chapters gives you access to some of the supporting characters

They are two methods of controls: one is for beginners where the special attacks are just one button away (this is very useful for newbies), the second is for intermediate players where you need to input a button combination to perform a special attack (this mode is for players who want to perform longer combos)

Controlling the characters in the game feels a bit stiff, the characters seems to have limited animations, even worse, the sounds really need some improvement as you can only hear grunts and squeals from the characters (hope they sould've add some more additional audio clips like shouting their special moves and some catchy one liners)

Overall, the game's just an ordinary anime fighting game, nothing fancy but still fun to play, so if you're an anime fan, this game is just for you, but if you're looking for a new kind of fighting game, maybe you can try this game for while and see if you'll enjoy it.

Game Rating: 7 out of 10

Epic LOL on Level up! Games forums

I dunno if the admins of Level Up! Games' forums are sleeping or don;t even exist, but getting personal message from anonymous persons and sending you sites that are infected with trojan virus is really ticking me off

This is the only gaming forum that I only receive this kind of anonymous messages, well it's okay if I receive only once, but receiving 3 same messages...wow
may be I should wait for a fourth one next month LOL

This means that somebody is hacking into the forums database (since I was inactive on that forum since January 2009) and what the hell is LUG doing about it

I don't even know if I'm the only person receiving this, but I guess the admins there don't have any idea about it or maybe they're just sleeping....

Epic LOL indeed
